The Supreme Court was to decide whether Gen Musharraf was eligible to run for re-election last month while remaining army chief.
Fears were growing in the government that the court could rule against Gen Musharraf.

The proclamation of emergency in Pakistan has made one big difference. All the nearly 30 TV news channels have gone off the air. And with them has gone all the cacophony about the political, judicial and military crisis in the country. Meanwhile, resentment is brewing among the judges of the higher judiciary. More than 60 judges, out of a total of 97, have declined to take oath under the new Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO). In a hurriedly-called sitting on Saturday evening, seven Supreme Court judges issued an order barring the government from proclaiming emergency rule, and advising the state functionaries not to carry out emergency orders, if issued. |

An urgent meeting was called from the President of High Court Bar Association, Multan for the crash of the plane. In the meeting all lawyers were very sad on the plane crash in Multan and the loss of the cream of Multan because of this crash. |

Plane crashed in Multan and as result 45 died on the spot. |
The plane crashed in Multan after few seconds of taking off from Multan Airport. There were many V.I.Ps travelling on the plane including the Judges of Lahore High Court Multan Bench, Multan namely Mr. Justice Nazir Ahmad Siddiqui and Mr. Justice Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti and many other V.I.Ps including Doctors, Professors and Army Officers. They all died on the spot. |
